Aperol Spritz With Candied Orange

While I do enjoy a wide array of various cocktails, the Aperol Spritz fits secure within my top three favorites. Of course it is known as a vibrant Summer beverage, with its bright, bubbly color and subtle notes of citrus. However, the Aperol Spritz can most definitely be enjoyed year round! It is most notably served in a large wine glass and fairly easy to mix up. If you ever find yourself at my home, I have Aperol Spritz ingredients at the ready. But, let me show you just how simple this slightly sweet, slightly bitter, effervescent cocktail can be made at your house.

Some either love it or leave it. Let me know in the comments where you stand with the Aperol Spritz!

This drink comes together in seconds in a simple round of steps. First comes the ice, then comes the Aperol, followed by Champagne or Prosecco of your choice and topped off with sparkling water.

Aperol is an Italian liqueur that is subtly sweet and slightly bitter with nice notes of orange. Most garnish with a fresh orange, but I LOVE to use a candied orange. The candied orange holds up well within the cocktail and ramps up the sweetness a bit in contrast to the slightly bitter Aperol.

Aperol Spritz With Candied Orange

Ingredients

Large Wine Glass

Ice

2oz Aperol

4oz Champagne or Prosecco

1-2 oz Sparking Water

Candied Orange For Garnish

Makes One Cocktail

Directions

Step 1: Fill a large wine glass with ice.

Step 2: Add 2 oz Aperol. If the Aperol is too bitter for you, add in 1oz.

Step 3: Now add in the Champagne or Prosecco of your choice. I like to use about 4oz here but my wine glass is quite large! Depending on your glass size, add the Champagne/Prosecco until the glass is about 3/4 of the way full.

Step 4: Next top off with sparkling water or club soda. Give it all a gentle stir so the Aperol doesn’t just sit at the bottom.

Step 5: Lastly, nestle in a candied orange into the glass and enjoy!
