Harry Potter + Professor Snape Share A Butterbeer!

First things first, Halloween isn’t canceled in our home! I’ve had our house decorated for Halloween since Sept 1st! This year looks a whole lot different for all of us as we deal with the massive impacts of Covid-19, and yes, here in Los Angeles they canceled Halloween trick or treating for the most part. And yes one of our favorite places to go during the Halloween season, Disneyland, is currently closed. Though our spooky spirits are high none the less! So high in fact, we recently dressed up as Harry Potter and Professor Snape to enjoy some butterbeer. We also hosted a family Harry Potter trivia night and it was probably the most fun we’ve had in a while! And ya, we kept the Hogwarts backdrop up for two weeks. Dan finally made us take it down.

Mila and I typically dress up several times during the month of October. You can see all our past costumes HERE. This year we have some really exciting costumes lined up. Especially since they will incorporate Maya. Dressing up is always at the top of my Halloween favorites list. Keep an eye out for our costumes, fun Halloween recipes, and spooky activities you can do with your family safely this year! We’ll be sharing it all here!

For now, let us kick off my favorite time of year with some bubbling Butterbeer! If you aren’t a Harry Potter fan I apologize ; )

Butterbeer

What You Need For Two Butterbeers: 2 Cream Sodas, 1 cup Whipping Cream, 1/4 tsp Butterscotch Extract, 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

What You Do

-Start by whipping your whipped cream! Now, you can totally do store bought whipped cream here. Though I like to whip my own. In a stand mixer whip 1 cup of cold whipping cream + 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy. This takes about 2-3 minutes. Store in the refrigerator until it is time to assemble your beverages.

-Ready to drink some butterbeer?! (this is non-alcoholic obviously. this is a drink from the Harry Potter movies in case you are confused) Add your 1/4 tsp of butterscotch extract to each glass. Careful! This stuff is really strong.
