Monster Cookie Sticks

Our simple sugar cookie dough turned into cookie sticks! We also took some time to bring them to life as monsters. This little cookie decorating moment was really fun and the perfect way to keep the Halloween spirit alive! Sharing the easy how to below for you all. Be sure to carve out some time to do this with your little ones in the days leading up to October 31st!

Monster Cookie Sticks

What You Need For The Cookie Dough; 3 cups flour, 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 tablespoon milk, 1 cup white sugar, pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder. Plus, store bought frosting + festive sprinkles

What You Do

-To make your cookie dough start by creaming the butter and sugar together until smooth. You can do this in a stand mixer or by hand with a whisk. Next mix in the egg, milk, and vanilla. In a separate bowl from your wet ingredients, sift all your dry ingredients together; flour, salt, baking powder. Then slowly add those in until a dough forms. Form your cookie dough into a large ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Let the dough chill for at least an hour in the refrigerator before rolling it out!

-Once your dough is chilled. Roll it out on a floured surface until is in 1/4 of an inch thick. Be sure to not roll the dough out too thin or your cookie sticks will end up breaking.

-Use a butter knife to gently cut your cookie dough into one inch wide sticks.

-Gently place them on a baking sheet lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are juuuuuuust barely turning brown.

-While your cookie sticks cool, prep your frosting and festive sprinkles. We used store bough frosting for this and found both the frosting + sprinkles at the craft store. I put the store bought frosting in piping bags, but if you don’t have those you can use plastic sandwich bags or have your kids gently apply the frosting with butter knifes.

-Once the cookies have fully cooled it is time to get creative! Have fun and be sure to capture your kids decorating!
